Sharael Taha on Prisons (Amendment) Bill

09:37 Min

The Employment Preparation Scheme (EmPS) is a positive step in the right direction as it seeks to provide inmates with better opportunities to reintegrate into society, MP Sharael Taha said in Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 11). He asked if the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) has adequate resources to handle the increased load when EmPS starts. He also sought clarity on the details of the scheme. He pointed out that EmPS could be used to address manpower shortages and potentially kickstart talent in new industries such as electric car repair.
