Sharael Taha on Singapore’s COVID-19 response
COVID-19 was “the crisis of our generation”, with an unprecedented impact that tested Singapore’s values as a society. Three critical values that emerged during the pandemic were trust, care for each other and the resilience of society. MP Sharael Taha said this in Parliament on Monday (Mar 20). He said that while the White Paper on Singapore’s COVID-19 response highlights seven key lessons that can be learned from the experience, there is an eighth - the need to anchor, strengthen and build upon the values of Singapore’s society. These will guide the country not only through the next pandemic, but also through other challenges in a volatile world.
