06:06 Min

Last year, 55 per cent of full-time resident employees reported that their employers had policies governing after-hours communication, up from 48 per cent in 2022. This is according to Ministry of Manpower's data, said Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower Shawn Huang. The policies include not expecting responses to non-urgent messages until the next working day, or providing time off in lieu of after-hours work. Mr Huang said his ministry has not assessed the effectiveness of the policies, but noted that mental health and family aspirations are influenced by a wide range of personal, societal and economic factors. He was responding to parliamentary questions on Wednesday (Aug 5).
