Shawn Huang on Singapore’s COVID-19 response

12:59 Min

Singapore should allocate time every National Day to carry out a nationwide exercise to boost resource resilience. It could involve every citizen, community and private and public sectors to review procedures, trial national emergency capabilities and examine household resilience through education and active participation. MP Shawn Huang proposed this in Parliament on Monday (Mar 20). He asked how Singapore can better on-shore or near-shore resources to further buffer its resilience in preparation for future pandemics. Can Singaporeans play an active role, he asked, and if so, what is the list of resources, items and capabilities they can help to stockpile and maintain? Mr Huang also suggested including pandemic scenarios when planning future hawker centres and markets.
