Sim Ann on appeals received by HDB

05:11 Min

HDB received an average of around 177,000 appeals a year from 2019 to 2023. About 40 per cent of these were related to parking, with housing making up the bulk of the remainder. Senior Minister of State for National Development Sim Ann said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Apr 3) in reply to an MP’s question. He had raised concerns about the workload of HDB staff and the time taken to respond to appeals, and asked if HDB should consider reviewing its schemes to reduce the necessity and likelihood of appeals. Ms Sim said HDB reviews its schemes “quite regularly” to meet evolving needs. However, some appeals are made despite frameworks already being in place, or due to changing circumstances. She said HDB takes into consideration the merits of each case when assessing appeals.
