05:28 Min
Senior Minister of State for National Development Sim Ann revealed in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2) that about 1,700 flats were surrendered to the Housing and Development Board in the last five years, citing changes in personal circumstances within the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) as one cause. She also explained that the MOP and the conditions governing the surrender of flats were in place to prevent speculative purchase and to be fair to Singaporeans who aspire to be flat owners.
