ST Engineering investing S$250m in five-year programme on physical AI research

02:42 Min

ST Engineering is investing S$250 million in a five-year programme on physical AI research, where machines have the ability to sense, act and adapt in the real world, unlike traditional AI that stays on screens. The initial focus will be to enhance teamwork between humans and unmanned systems. This, as Singapore urges workers to become 'AI bilinguals' — people who are both experts in their own fields and fluent in AI. ST Engineering's goal is to upskill 4,000 engineers and create 1,000 AI specialists in fields such as cybersecurity and agentic AI systems. Kate Low reports.
