Sun Xueling on efficient utilisation of EV charging infrastructure
Singapore is deploying electric vehicle (EV) chargers in tandem with growing demand within the constraints of space and electricity. As EV technology is continuously improving, the government is mindful not to overbuild as chargers can become obsolete quickly. It monitors utilisation rates closely and will deploy more chargers when utilisation is high. The Land Transport Authority will work with EV charging operators to explore measures to encourage charging during off-peak periods. Senior Minister of State for Transport Sun Xueling said this in reply to an MP’s question in parliament on Thursday (May 7).
