Sun Xueling on Foreign Interference (Countermeasures) Bill

Ordinary Singaporeans need not worry about the proposed law to counter foreign interference. Giving this assurance in Parliament on Monday (Oct 4), Minister of State for Education and Social and Family Development Sun Xueling said the Foreign Interference (Countermeasures) Bill is very targeted and should not affect the daily lives of Singaporeans or their freedom of speech. The same applies to organisations, as long as they do not have hidden negative motives or intentions. She stressed that Singapore is an open country which believes in building relationships and encouraging foreign participation. But it has to ensure that information from overseas sources is transparent to prevent any form of foreign interference.
