Sun Xueling on infant childminding pilot
The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) is finalising details of a Childminding Pilot for Infants which will be launched in December 2024. More information will be provided in the coming weeks on operators appointed and how interested parents can apply. Answering an MP’s questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 12), Minister of State for Social and Family Development Sun Xueling said the pilot aims to test whether there is a market for the service, so success would be a good take-up by parents and a sustainable pipeline of supply of childminders. She said operators, when recruiting, will be in contact with women groups or the labour movement to promote infant childminding as a work option.
