Sun Xueling on keeping preschools safe and secure
Preschools are required to put in place measures to protect children and staff from security threats. They have to keep their premises secured to prevent unauthorised entry. Most preschools use electronic locks at the entrance and visitors are only allowed entry after checks. Every preschool must have procedures in place to check and record the entry and exit of all persons. All preschools are also required to establish procedures to handle safety-related incidents, injuries and emergency evacuation during a crisis. Minister of State for Social and Family Development and Home Affairs Sun Xueling gave this assurance in reply to MPs' questions in Parliament on Thursday (Oct 20). She also outlined the various initiatives to keep the centres safe and secure. These include collaborations with the Singapore Police Force on counter-terrorism. *Audio issues inherent from source
