Sylvia Lim on Extradition (Amendment) Bill
Is the Government changing its traditional, “somewhat guarded” approach towards entering extradition treaties? This was a question raised by MP Sylvia Lim in Parliament on Monday (Apr 4) during the debate on the Extradition (Amendment) Bill. She noted that provisions relating to extradition from non-Commonwealth countries were being brought closer to those available to Commonwealth countries. Ms Lim also had a specific query on protection against extradition from Singapore for offences that might have taken place many years before the request.
