Sylvia Lim on Private Security Industry (Amendment) Bill

The proposed changes under the Private Security Industry (Amendment) Bill will give security officers greater confidence on the ground, said MP Sylvia Lim. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 5), she said the industry must ensure that officers are adequately trained and suitably equipped for their tasks. As new initiatives are being rolled out, teething problems will crop up. She urged managers of premises to work with security providers to ensure the smooth rollout of new systems. The public should be patient and remember that the officers are simply trying to do their job.
