Tan Kiat How on mobile coverage gaps on MRT network
Mobile network operators (MNOs) are required to meet the 4G Quality of Service (QoS) standards set by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), and MDA conducts regular checks to ensure these are met. The standards include a requirement to provide more than 99 per cent mobile coverage in all MRT tunnels and MRT stations in Singapore. The QoS performance results for each MRT line are published on IMDA’s website, and where there are coverage gaps found along the MRT network, IMDA works closely with the MNOs to carry out enhancements that address the gaps. Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information Tan Kiat How gave this update in parliament on Friday (Mar 6) in reply to an MP’s question.
