Chiropractors provide complementary and alternative treatment and their practice is not considered high risk. The practice is self-regulated through its professional associations, along with laws governing advertising and consumer protection. Where there are allegations of malpractice or negligence causing harm, patients may lodge a complaint with the relevant professional association or pursue civil action. The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor developments in the profession and review its position if the risk profile changes.
