Tan Kiat How on support for construction sector
About 2,200 construction firms ceased operations in 2021, which is comparable to the average number of firms that wound up annually between 2018 and 2020, said Minister of State for National Development Tan Kiat How. Speaking in reply to Parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Feb 15), he said the sector is displaying "encouraging signs" of recovery. He added that the Government is exploring ways to help reallocate workers from firms which have wound up to ensure that construction works in the sector proceed "safely and seamlessly".
