Tan See Leng on eligibility for Home Protection Scheme
Coverage under the Home Protection Scheme (HPS) is not extended to applicants with serious pre-existing medical conditions, including those related to mental health, if they are assessed to have a significantly higher risk of mortality. This is in line with industry practice. Manpower Minister Tan See Leng said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 22) in response to an MP’s question about whether having a mental health-related condition could make a person ineligible for the scheme. The HPS is a mortgage-reducing insurance that protects CPF members and their families from losing their HDB flats in the event of the member’s death, terminal illness or total permanent disability.
