Tariff truce: Trump signs executive order extending tariff pause on Chinese imports
What would have amounted to a virtual trade embargo between the world's two biggest economies has been averted for now. US and China have agreed to put a pause on triple-digit tariffs for 90 days. That leaves levies on American goods to China at 10 per cent, versus the up to 125 per cent announced in April. Duties on Chinese goods to the US are also kept on hold at 30 per cent, compared to a threatened 145 per cent. Deborah Wong and Toni Waterman report.
