Traps that electrocute rats on trial in Pasir Ris West
Electric traps to catch rats are being trialled for the first time by a community club in Pasir Ris West. The aim is to reduce the use of toxic baits. When a rodent enters, the trap detects its body heat and lifts it upwards. It then comes into contact with a yellow grill that delivers an electric charge for about two minutes. The carcass is discarded into an in-built bin, which means the trap can be used again immediately. Eugene Chow reports.
