US and Philippines ink military intelligence-sharing deal

The US and the Philippines have inked a key military intelligence-sharing deal, much to the ire of China. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and his Philippine counterpart Gilbert Teodoro signed the deal in Manila. Mr Teodoro said the General Security of Military Information Agreement would give his country a way to prepare for vulnerabilities in the future, while Mr Austin emphasised Washington's unwavering commitment to its ally. The pact is one of the current administration's final defence initiatives in Asia, before Joe Biden's term as president ends. Buena Bernal reports.
