The United States has reiterated "unwavering" commitment to the Philippines, as the allies begin their yearly Exercise Balikatan military drill amid the ongoing Middle East conflict. More than 17,000 soldiers, airmen and sailors are taking part over 19 days, including those from partner nations Australia, Canada, France, Japan and New Zealand. The war games will feature live-fire exercises in the north of the Philippines facing the Taiwan Strait and in a province off the disputed South China Sea. Nick Harper reports from Washington DC.
