Usha Chandradas on Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill

04:08 Min

The Goods and Services Tax Act is a complex piece of legislation and mistakes in its interpretation can happen, said NMP Usha Chandradas. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Apr 2), she said it is laudable that the Government has not shied away from making tough decisions about being transparent whenever errors are made. She noted that the proposed laws aim to clarify the GST treatment for regulatory and non-regulatory fees and described the Bill as a “good development” that will minimise errors in interpretation. She asked the Government to share its intentions and thought process behind the inclusion of the validation clause.
