Contributing to International Monetary Fund (IMF) trusts to support vulnerable member countries is a way to reduce the likelihood of global shocks that would impact households and businesses in Singapore, said MP Victor Lye. However, he asked for confirmation that the grants do not involve a drawdown of past reserves and do not replace or reduce domestic spending on healthcare, housing, education and reducing cost of living for Singaporeans. He spoke in parliament on Wednesday (Feb 4).
