Vikram Nair on Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Bill and Judicial Service (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill
The separation of functions between a new Judicial Service and Legal Service would not prevent cross-posting of officers, but would it become more difficult? Is there a risk of officers stagnating in their chosen branch? These questions were asked by MP Vikram Nair in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 3). He also raised the possibility that the Judicial Service would be “the more desired branch”, as many who had previously started in other parts of the Legal Service aspired to be judicial officers if they did well.
