Vikram Nair on Singapore Armed Forces and Other Matters Bill
With Singapore’s military setting up a new branch to face growing threats in the digital domain, MP Vikram Nair wanted to know when the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) will be operationally ready. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 2), he also asked to what extent the DIS will build on the current C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence) manpower and infrastructure. Given the significantly different skills required compared to the rest of the armed forces, he asked if DIS recruits and employees would have to go through the same type of training and whether it could be staffed by civilians.
