Yeo Wan Ling on Land Transport and Related Matters (No. 2) Bill

17:18 Min

When autonomous vehicles (AVs) eventually operate commercially and at scale, will there still be enough trips for drivers to earn a decent living? MP Yeo Wan Ling raised this question in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 7), as she stressed the need to approach the AV transition carefully. Driving has sometimes been seen as a “job of last resort” and an important employment buffer, said Ms Yeo. This is not simply a transport question but is also a labour market and social question, she said. Drivers will need enough information to make informed choices as well as a meaningful seat at the table before decisions are made, she added.
