Wan Rizal on Communicable Diseases Agency Bill
The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) represents a significant step in enhancing Singapore’s public health infrastructure and its establishment offers an opportunity to not only strengthen the country’s infectious diseases management capabilities but also reaffirm the Government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the welfare of those who will serve in this critical agency. He voiced his support for the Communicable Diseases Agency Bill but also sought several clarifications, such as the potential impact of the transfer of functions from the Ministry of Health and the Health Promotion Board to the CDA on existing public health services.
