08:28 Min

As Singapore continues to build national-level infrastructure and systems for mental healthcare, it must also provide more resources to create strong local support networks for those with mental health conditions and their caregivers, said MP Yeo Wan Ling in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 7). She said livelihoods are a major contributor to mental wellness and for caregivers, jobs in the community offer better work-life balance. Ms Yeo suggested that Community Development Councils work with heartland merchant networks to promote local job creation and flexible work arrangements. She added that for local support to be effective and inclusive, the community needs better awareness and specialised training.
