Yeo Wan Ling on Child Development Co-Savings (Amendment) Bill
With enhancements to paternity and shared parental leave, the labour movement hopes more fathers will support their partners beyond traditional expectations, said MP Yeo Wan Ling. For this to happen, she said workplace norms must evolve to not only support but encourage fathers to take up these leave schemes. To effect such change, she urged companies to have open communication, fair performance appraisals and create positive role models. In Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 13), Ms Yeo also asked if more can be done to normalise flexible work arrangements, which NTUC found to be the clear preference among workers with caregiving responsibilities, significantly outweighing paid caregiving leave.
