Yip Hon Weng on Anti-Money Laundering and Other Matters Bill
In Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 6), MP Yip Hon Weng raised concerns about a proposed reduction in the transaction threshold for customer due diligence checks in casinos, from S$10,000 to S$4,000. He said this might make casinos less attractive to tourists and adversely impact small business owners and patrons who rely on casinos for legitimate business or recreational purposes. Mr Yip asked if data or studies could be provided to justify the move and its projected impact.
