Yip Hon Weng on CareShield Life and Long-Term Care (Amendment) Bill
The CareShield Life and Long-Term Care (Amendment) Bill strengthens one of Singapore’s most important social safety pillars - long-term care protection for Singaporeans, said MP Yip Hon Weng. Yet a scheme of this scale must be more than sustainable and fair - it must also be compassionate and clear in execution, he said in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 15). Mr Yip said the task is not only to build a stronger system but to build a more human one. It should be anchored on fairness, compassion and protection, as well as foresight in ensuring that CareShield Life remains sustainable and meaningful beyond 2030. He urged Singaporeans to make CareShield Life not just a financial safety net, but a moral compact as well.
