Yip Hon Weng on Dental Registration (Amendment) Bill
With an ageing population, demand for dental services is not just increasing, but changing, MP Yip Hon Weng told Parliament on Monday (Aug 2). With only one dental school in Singapore, he asked if specialised foreign universities could be attracted to set up dental schools here, together with local universities. That would increase the local intake and ensure dentists meet standards in alignment with local needs. He also asked why the list of approved overseas universities could not be refined to remove those not producing graduates who are up to par, instead of imposing a qualifying exam.
