Yip Hon Weng on Healthcare Services (Amendment) Bill
The proposed amendments are an important step forward in ensuring that Singapore’s healthcare system remains safe, reliable, responsive and “in time for the future”, said MP Yip Hon Weng. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Mar 6), he also sought clarifications on the Bill. He wanted to know how the Ministry of Health (MOH) plans to enhance public education and inform the public of the changes. He also wanted to know how MOH will balance the business considerations of healthcare institutions and public health, as well as the safeguards to ensure that the licensing conditions imposed are necessary. Mr Yip also asked MOH for its assessment of the risks to patient safety and the need for possible regulation.
