Yip Hon Weng on MediShield Life Scheme (Amendment) Bill
During the debate on the MediShield Life Scheme (Amendment) Bill in Parliament on Monday (Nov 11), MP Yip Hon Weng raised several areas of concern. His questions included the following. How will the expansion of means-testing powers affect Singaporeans who are asset-rich but cash-poor, many of whom are seniors? Will premium information be made available on offline channels for the less digitally savvy? How might a new framework for approving medical institutions impact patient access and potentially disrupt continuity of care? Can more clarity be provided on approval of telehealth services? As changes are made to the healthcare system, Mr Yip called for it to be “not only robust and efficient, but also compassionate and inclusive”.
