With plans for almost all bankruptcy cases to be handled by private trustees in bankruptcy (PTIBs), what avenues of recourse or redress are there for those who may have complaints against PTIBs? Will standards and codes of practice for PTIBs be tightened or updated and will they be subject to obligations of confidentiality? These were some questions raised by MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim in Parliament on Monday (Jan 9). He also suggested expanding a public database of searchable information for people who are not only undischarged bankrupts but also those undergoing or facing bankruptcy proceedings, along with details of their PTIBs.
