A historic win in New York, as the city voted in Zohran Mamdani - its first mayor of South Asian descent and the youngest to serve in more than a century. In Virginia, former CIA officer Abigail Spanberger became the state’s first female governor. Another high-powered woman, Mikie Sherrill won the race in New Jersey, while Gavin Newsom won the governorship in California.
