Since joining full-time in July 2016, Saksith has covered major news events such as the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej 2016 and the Royal Cremation Ceremony a year later. He has also covered the 2011 Thai flood crisis, the visits of US President Barack Obama to Bangkok and Yangon (Myanmar) in 2012 as a stringer.

He started his international journalistic career as a Thai political blogger in 2010. Thanks to social media, he quickly built up a reputation as well as a following for his insightful analysis and colorful commentary on the "Siam Voices" blog at Asian Correspondent, for which he was a contributing writer until May 2016. During this time, Saksith has covered Thailand’s often tumultuous political scene including the 2011 Thai elections, the 2013-14 anti-government protests, the 2014 Thai military coup and its aftermath, as well as human rights, media freedom and social issues.

He also regularly appeared as an analyst and commentator on Thai politics on Al Jazeera English, BBC World Service, Radio Australia, ABC News 24, BBC World News, France 24 and other media outlets from around the world.

Saksith is a native of Bremen, Germany, where he briefly worked as a local newspaper reporter before attending the University of Hamburg to study Southeast Asian Studies.
