Thailand pursues 'recalibrated re-engagement' with Myanmar during Min Aung Hlaing's visit

Thailand has signalled that engagement with Myanmar remains its preferred approach, even as Min Aung Hlaing's government remains at odds with much of ASEAN. Bangkok has welcomed the Myanmar leader for his first official visit as civilian leader, while insisting any normalisation must still align with the regional bloc's goals. During his morning meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Min Aung Hlaing moved to reassure Thailand that his government was restoring stability in his country.
