In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro speaks with illustrators/artists Michael Ng and Asher Yeo from the Organisation of Illustrators Council or OIC Singapore. Ng (known as The Mindflyer) and Yeo (Tororo.aoi) will talk about how OIC champions illustrations, art and their creators in Singapore. Together with creative producer Zu Wee Ling, they’ll also discuss the Illustration Arts Festival – organised by OIC – held from July 4-6th 2025. Now into its sixth edition, they’ll describe the festival’s main features and the more than 130 illustrators from more than 10 countries who’ll also be present.

In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro speaks with the organisers behind 'Melting Thresholds', an ongoing experiential exhibition that’s a collaboration between GOFY, a Singapore-grown creative community and local gelato eatery Sweet Cheeks. Merick Chong from Sweet Cheeks and Anna Du Toit from GOFY will highlight Melting Thresholds’ artwork showcase by four emerging South East Asian artists: Shu and Money Wang from Malaysia, Nina Sach from Thailand, and Jaeyyelle from Singapore. They’ll also talk about the two limited-edition gelato flavours inspired by the exhibition’s artwork and themes, as well as collectible merch.

CNA938 Rewind - E. coli in Singapore waters: How to know it’s safe for a swim?

The World Aquatics Championships open water events proceeded on Wednesday (Jul 16) afternoon, after water quality results showed “significant improvement”. Three samples taken along the competition course at 5pm on Tuesday showed the levels of E. coli bacteria falling between the ranges of “good” to “excellent”. Andrea Heng and Hairianto Diman find out more from Emeritus Professor Ng Wun Jern from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, NTU about the safety issues relating to E. coli bacteria.
