  • Jolene Poh, who was diagnosed with a degenerative physical condition as a baby; today in her 20's, she's started a T-shirt brand with inspirational messages (chosen and designed by herself) to uplift others.
  • Jee Suhaimi, who grew up in an unstable home environment; today as a young man, helps mentor other youths-at-risk through his charity organisation, Membina Community.

In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro finds out where history buffs and art lovers can check out two ongoing art exhibitions: “Fernando Zóbel: Order is Essential” and “Dalam Collection: Where Ink Tides Meet”. National Gallery curator Clarissa Chikiamco will discuss the Fernando Zóbel exhibition which features over 200 pieces by the Spanish-Filipino cosmopolitan artist and scholar which include paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, and archival materials. In ‘Culture Club’, Melanie Oliveiro finds out what’s new at this year’s Singapore Design Week 2025, a weeklong celebration of Singapore’s design spirit and creativity - with its main theme “Nation by Design”. Singapore Design Week 2025’s Festival Director,Jody Teo, will highlight the festival’s usual three defining pillars: Design Futures, Design Marketplace, and Design Impact, which includes over 300 international brands and country pavilions at the FIND – Design Fair Asia. She will also talk about the over 60 Design Community programmes that will be held island-wide, from exhibitions and talks to pop-ups and workshops. Pann Lim, co-founder and creative director of creative agency Kinetic Singapore, will talk about the Unnatural History Museum of Singapore - a tongue-in-cheek take on Singapore’s improbable rise to success.

In ‘Destination Anywhere’, Melanie Oliveiro finds out where Singaporeans can go to see some movie offerings at the MINDS Film Festival (MFF) 2025, which returns this September for its eighth edition. Sophia Lim, director of strategic communications and engagement from MINDS the social service agency, will talk about how this eighth edition steps into the heartlands, bringing moving stories to everyday communities. Anthony Lucero, director of Paper Bag Plan will talk about the movie’s main themes: love, living with cancer, living with cerebral palsy and being a caregiver.
