On the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion on Ukraine, hopes for a peaceful end to the war remain distant. Despite multiple negotiation efforts and pressure from international actors – including US-mediated talks featuring the two warring countries – key issues like territorial control and political demands keep peace out of reach. With fighting still raging and both sides digging in, analysts say a lasting resolution is nowhere near.
