CNA938 Rewind - Baby Ayaan: Singapore zoo’s first orangutan born via artificial insemination
Ayaan, a two-month-old Sumatran orangutan and great-grandson of the late Ah Meng, was born following a years-long conservation effort involving assisted reproduction and emergency veterinary care. His successful delivery by caesarean section is believed to be the first documented case of its kind involving an orangutan.
