Singapore is adopting new construction technologies that promise to build homes faster and with less manpower, but major infrastructure projects can still face unexpected engineering hurdles. Elakeyaa Selvaraji and Hairianto Diman look at how new methods helped boost productivity at a Tengah BTO project by about 25 per cent, and what the North-South Corridor’s delay to 2029 tells us about the limits of technology when faced with difficult ground conditions, costs and construction complexity.
