CNA938 Rewind - Dialysis at home: Singapore steps up fight against kidney disease
Singapore is stepping up its battle against kidney disease by expanding home-based peritoneal dialysis (PD), aiming to reach 300 patients over the next three years. Led by the National Kidney Foundation alongside SGH, TTSH, NUH and KTPH, this shift could transform how treatment is delivered—bringing care out of hospitals and into homes. Andrea Heng and Hairianto Diman look at why PD remains underutilised despite offering patients greater independence and what it will take to scale this approach safely. They speak with Assoc Prof Tan Chieh Suai, Head and Senior Consultant, Department of Renal Medicine, Singapore General Hospital.
