Tay – a former lawyer – will talk about what inspired her to write this debut novel which has been described as cosy, delicious and a masterful family saga. “Early Mornings at the Laksa Cafe” takes place in Malaysia’s Kuching, the capital of Sarawak state where you meet Ah Hock, a second-generation laksa hawker who has a strained relationship with his wayward son as they try run their beloved but beleaguered family business.
