CNA938 Rewind - Prabowo’s 1st year: Populism, protests, and power – grading his year in office
It’s been one year since Prabowo Subianto became Indonesia’s president – and it’s been a turbulent start. His government has faced waves of protests, even as he rolls out ambitious populist programmes like free school meals. At the same time, Mr Prabowo is pushing to raise Indonesia’s global profile, strengthening trade and security ties in a divided world. Dr Nugroho is also Former Deputy Chief of Staff to the President from 2015-2019.
