Travellers between Singapore and Malaysia will enjoy greater flexibility from May 4, with cross-border taxis allowed to drop off passengers anywhere in Singapore and across several parts of Johor, including Johor Bahru. The move is part of enhancements to the Cross-Border Taxi Scheme. In ‘Made in SG’ Melanie Oliveiro profiles Woodslab, a Singapore-founded wood studio and furniture company creating bespoke custom solid wood and live-edge tables using timber and hardwood. Founder Izac Tan and Creative Director Tristan Chong will talk about how they work with wood slabs - which are thick, flat, and wide slices cut horizontally from a tree trunk or log. Tan and Chong will also describe the species-diverse solid wood types they choose and how digital mockups facilitate the design process.
