Three Singaporean teenagers aged between 14 and 19, who were self-radicalised by violent extremist ideologies and planned to carry out separate attacks in Singapore, have been detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA). The cases are unrelated. Andrea Heng and Hairianto Diman speak with Yasmine Wong, Associate Research Fellow, Centre of Excellence for National Security, S Rajaratnam School of International Studies, to discuss youth radicalisation and contemporary trends, challenges in identifying and intervening, and the role of social media.
