In a major shift for Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has offered to drop his country’s bid to join NATO, as part of a compromise to end the war with Russia. Instead, Mr Zelenskyy wants security guarantees from the US, Europe and others. He says this would provide an opportunity to prevent another arrival of Russian troops. What security guarantees can Ukraine get and will this move be enough to appease Russia to end the war?
