Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a condition that affects one in six pregnancies worldwide and substantially increases a woman’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. In Singapore, the rate is even higher with one in five pregnant women affected. On World Diabetes Day, Andrea Heng and Hairianto Diman look at ways to prevent and manage GDM.
